Sarahi Garza (she/her) is a first-generation Mexican American from Los Angeles, California. She is a 4th year PhD student in the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP), and is in the Frank Lab studying applying photoswitchable THC compounds to neuronal-like systems. For fun she is an avid foodie, and likes to ride her razor scooter.

Yessica Santana Ágreda (she/her) is a first-generation from Guatemalan & Mexican descent. She is from Los Angeles, California. Yessica is a 4th year PhD student in the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP), and is in the Wright Lab studying the transcription factor Islet1's role in Starburst Amacrine Cells. Fun fact about Yessica is that she has two cats: Lumpy & Wednesday.

Vice PresidentAntonio Munoz (he/him/el) is Ecuadorian American, and grew up in various hometowns in the US and oversees. He is a 2nd year PhD student in the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) in the Murthy Lab studying mechanotransduction. Fun fact about Tony is that he knows how to juggle.

SecretarySamantha (Sam) Osman (she/her) is a first generation, Sac & Fox tribal member from Oklahoma. She is a 3rd year PhD student in the Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences (PBMS), in the Messer Lab studying antibody responses to mosquito transmitted viruses. For fun she enjoys running, playing with her dachshund, and exploring Oregon.

Events Co-ChairJoselinne Medrano (she/ella) is Mexican American and grew up in Carbondale, Colorado. Joselinne is a 2nd year in the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) in the Williams and Ozburn Labs. A fun fact about Joselinne is that she can dunk a basketball! Haha, just kidding, but she has traveled to 10 different countries!

Events Co-Chair Bryan Ramirez Reyes (he/they) is a first-generation Mexican from Southern California. Bryan is a research assistant and previous OHSU PREP scholar in the Nice Lab studying innate immunity in regards to enteric infection. Fun fact about Bryan is that he can solve a Rubik's cube in under a minute.

Communications Co-Chair & TreasurerGisselle Jimenez (she/her) is a first-generation Mexican American from Southern California. She is a 2nd year PhD student in the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP). Gisselle is in the Ajami Lab studying macrophages and microglia. A fun fact about Gisselle is that she recently started embroidering fun designs as a way to de-stress!

Nina is in the Wright & Sivyer Lab studying the function of novel retinal neurons. Fun fact about Nina is that she owns over 150+ nail polishes.

Community Outreach Co-Chair Emily Rainge (she/her/hers) is a 2nd year in the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) and in the Saunders lab studying molecular interactions that contribute to rabies virus spread in the nervous system. Emily is from is Phoenix, Arizona and identifies as African-American/Black. A fun fact about Emily is that she played the clarinet in high school and college, and loves taking pictures of scenery and food.

Community Outreach Co-ChairDestinee Semidey (She/Her) is a 1st year in the Neuroscience Graduate Program (NGP) who is interested in studying the circuit dynamics of learning/memory pathways and neurodevelopment while at OHSU. She identifies as Puerto Rican; born and raised in New York City. In her free time, Destinee enjoys being experimental with her cooking. She is always trying out new recipes to share with her friends.

Faculty AdvisorDr. Angela Ozburn (she/her), is an Associate Professor of Behavioral Neuroscience from Shawnee, Kansas. In her free time she enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, hiking the beautiful PNW, SCUBA diving, cooking (BBQ, tex-mex, and family recipes), beading/weaving/knitting with her buddies, movies and music!

Faculty AdvisorDr. Kevin Wright (he/him), is an Associate Professor in the Vollum Institute, and is the director of the Neuroscience Graduate Program. In his free time, he enjoys eating Takis, watching his son play soccer, and sharing cat photos!
